Nottingham’s newest cafe, Sipping Boba, is turning heads with a unique twist on the traditional pancake. Located on Ilkeston Road, this cozy spot offers the biggest, fluffiest Japanese soufflé pancakes that are so light, they feel like eating clouds.
Served with a variety of toppings like strawberry, biscoff, matcha, and pistachio, these pancakes have quickly become a fan favorite.
Kabitha Begum and her partner, Wasim Ali, who run Sipping Boba, were inspired by soufflé pancakes they tried in Leicester and London. Kabitha explained, “The texture is airy, and you don’t feel heavy afterward.”
Wasim added, “We wanted to offer something different alongside bubble tea, and the pancakes are big, fluffy, and visually appealing. We’re the first in Nottingham to serve these.”
Sipping Boba’s menu also features a selection of cheesecakes and milk cakes topped with biscoff, Oreo, Nutella, and rose—all made in-house. For savory cravings, try the croffles, a blend of croissants and waffles, available with fillings like salmon and cream cheese, turkey ham and cheese, or avocado.
Starting as a delivery-only “dark kitchen” in Old Basford, Sipping Boba now boasts a charming green-and-white cafe with seating for 20, attracting customers from across Nottingham. Patrons rave about the food, service, and welcoming atmosphere.
The drink menu is equally impressive, offering a wide range of Asian-style beverages including milk tea in flavors like cookies and cream, taro, strawberry, and melon-flavored honeydew. You can also customize your drink with extras like fruity popping boba, pudding jelly, or classic tapioca pearls.
For those seeking something lighter, there are fruit teas in flavors such as peach, passion fruit, apple, and raspberry, along with refreshing mocktails like strawberry, mango, and dragon fruit. Traditional coffee options like lattes and Americanos are also available.
Since its opening, Sipping Boba has been a hit, with customers calling it the best boba spot in town. Whether you’re after a sweet treat or a bubble tea pick-me-up, this new cafe is certainly one to check out.
