The rice is simmered with condensed milk or sugar, sometimes with added pandan juice or coconut milk for extra flavor and a natural green hue. The result is a smooth, lightly chewy mixture that sits at the base of the drink, ready to be topped with jasmine oolong milk tea and a selection of add-ins like pearls, jelly, or cheese cream.

What sets sticky rice milk tea apart isn’t just its rich cultural connection—it’s also a more balanced choice for those seeking flavor without overwhelming sweetness. Fans like Pham Thi Huong from Hai Duong City praise its “light, refreshing taste,” saying it’s enjoyable without the guilt often associated with sugary drinks.
