China’s largest tea chain, Chagee, is set to make its U.S. debut this spring with the opening of its first Los Angeles location at the Westfield Century City Mall.
Established in 2017 in Yunnan, Chagee has expanded globally, now boasting over 6,400 stores in countries including China, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia.
Renowned for its freshly brewed and milk teas, Chagee offers a menu featuring unique drinks such as jasmine tea lattes, Yunnan pu’er milk tea, and oolong blended frappes.
The brand is recognized for its upscale image, with ornately decorated cups featuring floral and horse motifs, elevating the tea experience to luxury.
The announcement of Chagee’s U.S. expansion follows the company’s filing for an IPO on March 25, 2024, aiming for a listing on Nasdaq under the ticker CHA.
In its filing, Chagee revealed impressive growth, with revenue reaching 12.41 billion Chinese yuan ($1.7 billion) in 2024, a significant increase from the previous year. The IPO is expected to attract U.S. investors as the brand seeks to expand its global presence.
Despite rising trade tensions between China and the U.S., which have led to additional tariffs on Chinese goods, Chagee remains focused on its U.S. expansion.
The Los Angeles location will join an exciting selection of dining options at the Westfield Century City Mall, including Eataly, Din Tai Fung, and Chamberlain Coffee, further enhancing the area’s appeal to food enthusiasts.
