UK-based bubble tea chain, Cupp, is set to make its international debut in 2025 with a franchise agreement to expand into India. Founded in 2012 by Lee Peacock, Cupp currently operates 33 locations across the UK, with plans to open 15 additional sites next year.
The company has partnered with franchise consultant Mikayla Whittle to accelerate its global growth and has secured a development deal in Hyderabad, India, aiming to open its first store there in the second half of 2025.
“I’m super excited to announce that Cupp will be going international. It’s been a long time coming, and we’re thrilled to begin this exciting new chapter,” said Peacock. “This marks a pivotal step in our journey, and there’s more to come as we expand globally.”
Whittle emphasized, “Expanding beyond the UK has always been part of our growth strategy. Hyderabad’s vibrant food scene and thriving beverage market make it the perfect place for our first international store.”
Cupp aims to tap into India’s tea-drinking culture while driving demand for innovative beverages and café experiences. The chain enters a competitive bubble tea market in India, which already boasts local players like Boba Bhai, Dr Bubbles, and Cha Bar.
Cupp joins other international bubble tea brands, such as YOYO! Fresh Tea and Malaysia’s Tealive, which are also eyeing India’s expanding hospitality market.
The brand is looking for multi-unit regional franchisees and master franchisees for future international expansions, with potential markets including the US, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and the Republic of Ireland.
