In a delightful fusion of culture and flavors, China and Nepal marked their longstanding diplomatic ties with an event celebrating the rich tea traditions of both nations in Beijing on January 17, 2025. Among the various tea offerings, Nepalese milk tea garnered particular attention, as guests experienced its distinctive flavor and rich cultural history.
Yuan, a prominent figure at the event, emphasized how tea culture embodies the spirit of “harmony in diversity” — a philosophy that aligns with the principles of economic globalization and multiculturalism. He further noted that his association would continue fostering cooperation between the two countries in key sectors such as economy, trade, culture, and tourism.
Xu, representing China’s largest trade organization for foodstuffs and agricultural products, reiterated his commitment to strengthening ties between China and Nepal, particularly in the tea industry. He highlighted the role of trade and cultural exchanges in promoting shared prosperity.
Attendees were treated to a diverse array of Nepalese teas, including black, white, green, and the ever-popular milk tea, gaining insights into Nepal’s centuries-old tea-making techniques. The event also featured interactive cultural activities such as Chinese calligraphy, paper-cutting, and a traditional tea ceremony.
In addition to the tea tasting, the event showcased several new cooperation projects aimed at celebrating the 70th anniversary of China-Nepal diplomatic relations. These initiatives include a cultural tour between Beijing and Kathmandu, youth exchanges, a green development forum, and dragon boat races, all of which aim to further deepen the ties between the two nations.
