Pause N’ Sip Closes Richmond Location After 2 Years, But Fans Remain Hopeful For Future

In a bittersweet farewell, locally founded bubble tea shop Pause n’ Sip has closed its Richmond location after two years of serving up milk teas and sodas. Announced on January 15th via Instagram, the Richmond Aberdeen Square spot, a favorite for bubble tea enthusiasts, will no longer be in operation.

Pause n’ Sip wasn’t just another imported bubble tea chain—its origins are rooted in the Richmond Night Market, and it earned recognition for its unique offerings, including Taiwanese J&G Fried Chicken partnerships. The brand expanded to the Aberdeen Square location in November 2022, nestled conveniently next to the Canada Line station.

In their announcement, the Pause n’ Sip team shared a heartfelt message with their followers: “It’s with a heavy heart that we share this with you; we have made the difficult decision to close our Richmond location—our last day will be tomorrow, Jan 15. It’s been a whirlwind 3 years since the idea of Pause n’ Sip was born, and our team feels it’s time to take a step back to contemplate the next step and future direction for Pause n’ Sip. Hopefully, we won’t be gone for too long!”

Despite the closure, the brand emphasized their plans for the future with a hopeful message: “It’s not a goodbye, it’s see you later!” This optimistic outlook leaves fans hopeful that Pause n’ Sip will return to the Richmond community or explore new ventures in the coming months.

While the closure is a sad moment for Richmond’s bubble tea scene, Pause n’ Sip joins a growing list of local spots, such as Yifang and Machi Machi, which have also shut down their Richmond locations in recent months. Fans of Pause n’ Sip are encouraged to stay tuned for updates as the brand contemplates its next steps.
