Molly Tea, the popular Chinese milk tea brand, is making its debut in Chicago’s Chinatown, marking its first Midwest location. The new store, set to open on January 17, 2025, at 2227 S. Wentworth Ave, introduces the rich flavors of floral-infused milk teas to the area, adding a new dimension to Chinatown’s vibrant bubble tea scene.
Founded in Shenzhen in 2021, Molly Tea specializes in blending floral teas like jasmine with fresh milk, offering a refined take on bubble tea. The brand’s approach focuses on high-quality ingredients, artisanal preparation, and beautiful packaging, a hallmark of the “New-Style” Chinese tea beverage movement that has gained immense popularity both in China and abroad.
With successful branches already in Queens, Brooklyn, and San Francisco, Molly Tea chose Chicago’s Chinatown for its fourth U.S. location, aiming to share its cultural heritage of floral teas with a broader audience. “We’re excited to introduce our floral tea culture in Chinatown, a place that embraces multicultural exchange,” said Cassie Li, the brand’s overseas marketing manager.
The Chicago menu features an array of floral milk teas, including jasmine, osmanthus, and gardenia, with options for oat milk substitutions. A standout offering is the jasmine-infused whipped cream topping paired with pecan crunches. To start, the store will also offer a Jasmine Mango Smoothie as its sole fruit tea option, with plans to expand the menu based on local preferences.
Molly Tea’s opening marks an exciting new chapter for tea lovers in Chicago, offering a taste of authentic floral teas from mainland China in the heart of Chinatown.
