Bubble tea enthusiasts in Windsor now have a new destination to satisfy their cravings. Teaspoon, a popular boba tea franchise, has officially opened its doors in the Lakewood Shopping Center, bringing the town its very first shop dedicated entirely to bubble tea. The grand opening, held on October 12, saw an overwhelming turnout, with a line of eager customers wrapping around the corner despite the rainy weather.
From the moment the doors opened, Teaspoon Windsor was met with a wave of excitement. Even with a gloomy forecast, the crowd didn’t waver. Windsor’s Mayor Rosa Reynoza, who was present at the grand opening, couldn’t hide her amazement. “The weather was horrible and there was still a line all around the building waiting for the doors to open. The excitement in the crowd was contagious—(the owners) did a really good job,” Reynoza said.
Teaspoon – which originally began in Los Altos in 2015 – now boasts 49 locations nationwide, and Windsor marks the brand’s second location in Sonoma County. The first was in Santa Rosa, which opened last year, and another Teaspoon shop is already set to open in Petaluma in the near future.
Why Windsor? Amannur Singh, the owner of both the Windsor and Santa Rosa locations, explains the decision to bring Teaspoon to the area. “There’s a lot of families out here, a lot of schools, and we noticed that the area didn’t really have any unique spots for bubble tea yet. So, we thought, why not bring something new and introduce it to the community?” Singh says.
As Teaspoon’s first bubble tea shop in Windsor, it stands out in a town where boba drinks are typically sold as an add-on at restaurants or juice bars. Teaspoon, however, is a specialty store exclusively dedicated to serving bubble tea, with a curated menu of hot and cold drinks and a few pastries to complement the beverages. From Thai tea with honey boba to refreshing fruit teas, Teaspoon is quickly becoming the go-to spot for fans of this beloved treat.
The Windsor location is not just another business—it’s a family-run operation that’s already earning love and support from the community. Mayor Reynoza, who met Singh and his family during the grand opening, expressed her enthusiasm about the business joining the town. “I’m really excited to see a family-owned business opening here in Windsor. It’s exactly the kind of community spirit we need,” she shared.
Singh also notes the large presence of local students among their customers, with many high school and middle school students making Teaspoon their after-school stop. “We see new faces every day—people who didn’t know we were here—but once they find us, they keep coming back,” Singh says. The shop’s welcoming atmosphere and customizable drinks have made it a fast favorite among young families and students alike.
One of the things that sets Teaspoon apart from other local options is the ability to fully customize each drink. Whether it’s adjusting the sweetness level or choosing from a variety of boba toppings like chewy tapioca pearls, honey boba, or fruit pearls, Teaspoon lets customers make their perfect cup of bubble tea. While their hot drinks are available, the store is especially known for their cold beverages, including the fan-favorite fruit teas that are packed with flavor and refreshingly light.
Singh adds, “The beauty of Teaspoon is that there’s always something for everyone. Our drinks can be tailored to any taste, and we’re always looking to introduce new options to keep things exciting for our customers.”
