A Tiger Sugar bubble tea shop on Fargate, a premium street in Sheffield, has been closed and vandalized. The store, which opened just under a year ago on November 25, 2023, now stands deserted with mail scattered across the floor, including a poster advertising an event on November 5. A side window has been smashed, and the store’s entrance is boarded up.
Located next to the former HSBC building, the Tiger Sugar outlet was part of a global chain that began in Taichung, Taiwan, in 2017. The brand has since expanded to numerous locations across the US and UK, offering a variety of drinks made from tea, milk, syrup, and tapioca pearls, commonly known as boba.
The closure of this location marks a significant disruption for the Taiwanese bubble tea brand in Sheffield. HSBC, which previously occupied the building next door, has since relocated to The Moor. The circumstances surrounding the closure and the extent of the damage remain unclear.
