As the cooler months approach, Peekskill residents are in for a treat with the grand opening of Peekskill Boba, Westchester’s latest bubble tea shop. Located at 117 North Division Street, this cozy destination will officially open its doors on Saturday, October 19, inviting tea lovers to indulge in both hot and cold delightful drinks.
To celebrate the grand opening, the first 10 guests to visit Peekskill Boba will receive a free small drink of their choice, according to the store’s social media announcements. Owner Chanel Anglin expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m so pumped! I can’t wait to meet everybody. It’s been a long time coming!”
Chanel, a Peekskill native and first-time business owner, has poured her heart into creating a welcoming atmosphere that also offers free Wi-Fi, making it the perfect spot for socializing or studying. After spending several years in the finance industry, Chanel decided to follow her entrepreneurial spirit and pursue her passion for bubble tea—a decision that took root in 2021. “For a year, I juggled whether it would be a good idea or not. Then in April 2022, I decided to go for it,” she shared.
Anglin noted the scarcity of bubble tea shops in Westchester as a motivating factor for her venture. “People have to drive to places like White Plains, Mahopac, or Cold Spring for bubble tea. I wanted to bring that experience right here to Peekskill.”
As customers step inside, they will be greeted by a vibrant atmosphere featuring a stunning mural and a brick wall adorned with a neon sign that reads, “Down Your Troubles in Bubbles.” Orders can be placed at the counter or through the website, ensuring a smooth experience for all.
Peekskill Boba boasts an extensive menu with 67 customizable items, including a seasonal pumpkin menu running through November 30. Almost all menu items can be made vegan, catering to diverse dietary preferences. The shop promises rotating seasonal offerings throughout the year, keeping the selection fresh and exciting.
While many may associate “Boba” with bubble tea, Anglin explained its true essence. Originating from Taiwan, Boba refers to chewy tapioca pearls made from cassava starch, which are a key ingredient in bubble tea—a delightful blend of milk, tea, and various flavors, from classic black and green teas to fruity delights like passion fruit and mango.
Anglin encourages customers to choose Peekskill Boba for its commitment to high-quality ingredients and a wide array of options not found at other shops. “We also have sales and loyalty programs. Everything a customer wants from a boba shop, we have it here,” she stated.
To celebrate the opening, Peekskill Boba will host themed discount days:
Mocha Mondays: 3-5 PM, buy any mocha drink and get the second at 50% off.
Taro Tuesdays: 3-5 PM, buy any taro drink and get the second at 50% off.
Thai Tea Thursdays: 3-5 PM, buy any Thai tea and get the second at 50% off.
Student Fridays: 10% off for students all day.
In addition to these deals, customers can participate in two loyalty programs: a punch card for a free drink after eight purchases, and a points system linked to phone numbers for every dollar spent.
Currently, Peekskill Boba is not available on food delivery apps to ensure the quality of their drinks. “Boba is perishable, and we want our customers to enjoy the freshest experience possible,” Anglin explained. While food items aren’t on the menu yet, Anglin hopes to introduce mochi waffles, soft-serve ice cream for boba floats, and taiyaki ice cream in the future.
