As autumn settles over Japan, Starbucks is warming up the season with a special treat. The popular Chocolate Mousse Latte is making a limited-time return to the chain’s menu, enhanced this year with Starbucks’ signature “Espresso Roast” for an added layer of flavor.
The revamped latte combines the rich, caramel-like sweetness of the espresso with a luxurious chocolate mousse topping. The mousse, characterized by its fluffy, airy texture, subtly melts with each sip, enriching the espresso’s deep flavor. Complemented by an almond and hazelnut sauce, the beverage captures the essence of autumn in every cup.
Customers can enjoy the Chocolate Mousse Latte hot or iced. To enhance the experience, Starbucks has introduced two recommended customizations. Nobuki Shimoide, the 18th “Coffee Ambassador” and winner of the Ambassador Cup 2023, suggests opting for almond milk for an additional 55 yen (US$0.38). This choice intensifies the nutty flavor profile, allowing the rich combination of nuts and chocolate to linger longer on the palate.
For those who prefer a purer chocolate experience, a complimentary pump of chocolate sauce is available. This addition amplifies the latte’s sweetness and aroma, providing a more pronounced chocolate taste from the first sip to the last.
The Chocolate Mousse Latte will be available at Starbucks locations across Japan from September 30 to October 31, 2024. The drink is priced starting at 589 yen (US$4.06).
Starbucks’ introduction of the Chocolate Mousse Latte marks a delightful addition to their autumn menu, promising to deliver a rich and comforting beverage experience. With customizable options to cater to varied tastes, this seasonal offering is set to be a cozy favorite as temperatures drop.
