Fans of Chagee, rejoice! The beloved Chinese milk tea brand is making a comeback to Singapore after a brief hiatus. The brand, which left the city-state earlier this year, has announced its return with three new stores opening in August. Previously, Chagee operated 12 franchised outlets across Singapore, including popular locations such as Wisma Atria, Ang Mo Kio Central, and Bugis+. The last of these stores closed on January 14, 2023, but the brand’s return was announced via Instagram on May 9.
This time, Chagee’s outlets will be directly managed by the brand, rather than franchisees. The new stores will be located at Orchard Gateway, Plaza Singapura, and Raffles City. Additionally, a limited-time pop-up will run from June 24 to June 30, giving fans an early taste of what’s to come.
So, what makes Chagee so popular? Devotees of the brand praise the aroma and flavors of its teas, which are crafted from freshly brewed tea leaves rather than powdered alternatives. Chagee prides itself on offering a sophisticated tea experience, focusing on high-quality ingredients and modern twists on traditional teas like tieguanyin. Unlike typical bubble tea offerings that emphasize chewy tapioca pearls and fruity syrups, Chagee’s drinks are celebrated for their authentic tea flavors.
Committed to quality, Chagee has eliminated ingredients with trans-fatty acids and stopped using non-dairy creamers, aiming to use only the freshest and highest quality ingredients. This dedication to quality has paid off; since its founding in 2017 in Yunnan, China, Chagee has expanded to 4,500 branches worldwide, becoming one of China’s leading milk tea brands.
Chagee’s signature drink, jasmine green milk tea, is a global favorite, with around 438 cups sold every minute. This popular drink will be available in Singapore when the new stores open in August. For those who can’t wait, the limited-time pop-up will offer a sneak peek. While the full menu remains a secret for now, Chagee promises to reveal more details on its social media pages as the launch date approaches.
