New Boba Tea Shop Opens in Port Orange

Port Orange residents can now enjoy a taste of Taiwan with the opening of Hi Boba Tea, a new bubble tea shop that aims to bring the popular beverage trend to Volusia County.

Boba tea, also known as bubble tea, originated in Taiwan in the early 1980s and has recently surged in popularity worldwide. This tea-based drink is renowned for its variety of toppings, the most famous being chewy tapioca balls. While milk teas with tapioca are classic, fruit teas featuring jelly or popping boba that bursts with fruity flavor are also highly popular.

Despite the abundance of boba shops in the Orlando area, the coastal region had remained largely untapped—until now. Hi Boba Tea saw an opportunity to introduce the trend to Port Orange and its neighboring communities.

“Our aim is to create a unique experience with a variety of flavors, toppings, and the ability to customize drinks to each customer’s personal taste,” said Monica Wang, the shop’s manager. “We strive to be a community hub, providing a refreshing and enjoyable space for people to gather and enjoy their favorite bubble tea creations.”

Owned by Yue Wang, who hails from mainland China, Hi Boba Tea combines his passion for boba with his community spirit. Having lived in Port Orange for eight years and worked as a pilot since 2015, Mr. Wang sought to bring a slice of Taiwan to his local community.

“I wanted to offer a trendy and enjoyable product and create a welcoming environment for people to experience the unique charm of boba tea,” Mr. Wang explained.

The shop is designed not just to sell beverages but to foster a sense of community where people can socialize and enjoy their favorite drinks together. The interior features a charming décor, complete with an adorable pink bear perfect for photo opportunities.

Hi Boba Tea offers an extensive menu of customizable drinks. Customers can choose from various milk and fruit tea bases, including jasmine, matcha, Thai, and black teas. Milk options include traditional dairy as well as almond, oat, and coconut alternatives. Toppings range from classic tapioca to jelly and popping boba. The shop also serves smoothies, lemonades, and Yakult yogurt drinks, all available with boba.

In addition to beverages, Hi Boba Tea offers small, handmade Asian café bites such as crepe cakes, ice jelly bowls, and pudding cups.

For loyal customers, the shop has introduced a rewards program, offering 10% back on every dollar spent, redeemable for more bubble tea and snacks.

Hi Boba Tea is located at Unit 108, 3813 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, in the Neighborhood Walmart Plaza.
