Chicha San Chen to Open First NYC Location with Free Boba Tea Merchandise This Weekend

Chicha San Chen, a well-known bubble tea chain originating from Taiwan, is set to open its inaugural New York City establishment in Manhattan’s Chinatown this Saturday, May 18. The chain, celebrated for its reputedly robust tea flavors derived from hand-picked and grown tea leaves, is marking the occasion with a grand opening event featuring complimentary giveaways.

Located at 72-74 Bayard Street near Mott Street, the highly anticipated soft opening will commence on May 16. The grand opening celebration on May 18, scheduled from 11:30am to 8:30pm, promises an exclusive treat for the first 100 attendees. Patrons purchasing a bubble milk tea will receive complimentary Chicha San Chen merchandise. It is worth noting that during both the soft and grand opening events, beverage purchases will be limited to two cups per person.

Renowned for its diverse tea offerings, Chicha San Chen presents an array of flavors, including Green Tea, Osmanthus Oolong Tea, High Mountain Pouchong Tea, and Cassia Black Tea. The brand’s teas have earned acclaim from the International Taste Institute, garnering the equivalent of three Michelin stars for their exceptional quality as evaluated by professional taste experts.

In addition to its à la carte menu, the NYC location will introduce a Tea Tasting Area—an exclusive feature where tea enthusiasts can indulge in a curated five-tea flight and engage in tea-tasting demonstrations. This immersive experience allows patrons to explore variations of Chicha San Chen’s Oolong Tea sourced from the renowned Lishan Mountains in Taiwan.

Chicha San Chen joins the ranks of other international bubble tea brands making strides in Manhattan. HeyTea, credited with pioneering cheese tea in Jiangmen, China, unveiled its inaugural NYC location in Midtown in December. Likewise, Nana’s Green Tea, a contemporary Japanese café specializing in green teas and matcha desserts, debuted its first NYC outpost in Koreatown at 1250 Broadway this April.
