Consumer Advocate Calls for Rs. 80 Milk Tea Amidst Milk Powder Price Reduction

In a recent statement, Asela Sampath, Chairman of the National Consumer Front, has urged canteen owners to offer a cup of milk tea for Rs. 80 starting today. This call comes in conjunction with the concession granted to consumers following a reduction in the prices of imported milk powder.

Sampath highlighted that importers of milk powder have opted to lower the retail prices of both one-kilogram and 400-gram packets, effective immediately. This decision, he noted, stems from the depreciation of the dollar in the global market.

He emphasized that recent hikes in milk powder prices had dissuaded individuals from frequenting eateries for a cup of milk tea. However, with the recent reduction in prices, the situation has reversed, providing consumers with the opportunity to enjoy a cup of milk tea at the affordable rate of Rs. 80.

This move aims to alleviate the burden on consumers while encouraging them to indulge in their favorite beverage without financial constraints.
