Taiwan’s acclaimed boba tea powerhouse, Odd One Out (OOO) Craft Milk Tea, is gearing up to delight Santa Monica this summer with a fresh addition near the lively Third Street Promenade, as confirmed by officials to What Now Los Angeles. This venture marks the company’s second venture into the Los Angeles market, following the successful launch of their Sawtelle location last year.
“What sets apart OOO Santa Monica from OOO Sawtelle is our introduction of gelato and ice blends alongside our signature drinks, perfectly tailored for this locale,” remarked Boggy Chan, OOO’s head of marketing, in an interview with What Now Los Angeles. This expansion follows the brand’s impressive accolades at home, including being crowned the winner of the Taiwan Milk Tea Festival.
Renowned for its diverse menu featuring flavors like Blue Matcha, Juniper Bliss, and Grapefruit Oolong, OOO has cemented its reputation as a purveyor of premium teas.
According to the company’s website, their unwavering commitment to freshness and flavor involves collaborating with independent farms, ensuring the exceptional quality of their tea leaves — albeit at a higher cost.
“The rarity of our tea leaves does come at a cost that is 4-6 times higher than most brands. We believe that true quality should never be compromised, which is why we refuse to settle for generic mass distributors,” the brand’s ethos resounds on their website. The upcoming Santa Monica store embodies their dedication to excellence. Co-founders Ron Chan, former CEO of FoodPanda in Taiwan, and Patrick Sun, an F&B veteran, are the driving forces behind the brand’s meticulous approach to their product and expansion.
