In the heart of Capitol Hill, COMEBUYTEA, the Taiwanese tea chain, has made a significant splash with its first Seattle location at the corner of Pike and Broadway. Since its debut earlier this month, the tea haven has consistently drawn crowds, reminiscent of the bustling Starbucks Roastery just blocks away.
A unique feature that sets COMEBUYTEA apart is its innovative “TEAPRESSO Machine.” This steam-billowing marvel executes the “5-step Kungfu brewing method” in just 60 seconds, promising a perfectly balanced tea every time. The efficiency of the process, combined with the craft-focused approach, has made the $5.50 and up tea offerings, enriched with caffeine, cream, and chewy boba, a social media sensation and a neighborhood must-have.
The opening of COMEBUYTEA in the Capitol Hill area was initially reported by CHS in late 2022 when the Taiwanese chain’s U.S. subsidiary prepared to launch its “flagship Seattle store.” The cafe found its home in the space previously occupied by Starbucks, contributing to the diverse mix of establishments in the old State Bank building alongside Neighbors, A Stir/Capitol Cider, and a branch of the Cinnaholic cinnamon roll chain.
As COMEBUYTEA navigated its journey from conceptualization to opening, Capitol Hill’s bubble tea landscape experienced further expansion. Don’t Yell At Me established its presence next to Dick’s Drive-in on Broadway, while a new Timeless Tea location surfaced on the north end of the street. Additionally, Broadway’s Cafe Haslla offers a Korean take on milk tea. Existing tea destinations like the crafty Atulea on 12th Ave and the boba-centric Drip Tea on 10th Ave continue to be favored choices among Capitol Hill residents.
The Capitol Hill opening marks COMEBUYTEA’s inaugural venture into the United States beyond Southern California. With existing cafes in Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, and Germany, COMEBUYTEA is steadily building its global brand and introducing its distinctive take on tea to diverse communities.
