Singapore – Taiwanese bubble tea franchise, Milksha, bid farewell to the Singaporean bubble tea scene as it closed its last operational outlet at Tampines One shopping mall on December 31, 2023. The sudden departure was announced through a social media post on the same day, expressing gratitude for the support received since the brand’s inception in 2019.
In the farewell post, Milksha thanked its patrons and invited them to savor a “last cup of memories” or drop by to reminisce with the brand. A visit to Milksha Singapore’s website by Yahoo Southeast Asia confirmed its unavailability, signaling the cessation of online operations.
As of the current writing, Milksha’s Instagram and Facebook pages remain active. However, the brand has not provided any specific reasons for its unexpected withdrawal from the Singapore market.
Last November, Milksha had announced a “scheduled maintenance” for its app, commencing on November 27, 2023, with no specified date for its restoration. Users were advised to utilize remaining credits and vouchers by November 26, 2023, as they would no longer be valid or eligible for refunds thereafter.
Originating as Milkshop in Taiwan, Milksha inaugurated its first store in Jiali, Tainan, in 2007. The brand ventured into the competitive Singaporean bubble tea market in 2019, facing off against popular local brands like Koi, LiHo, and Gong Cha. Noteworthy for using 100% fresh milk in all its beverages, Milksha has expanded its presence with over 200 outlets across Taiwan, Japan, Canada, Australia, and Macau.
The closure of Milksha follows the October shuttering of all 11 stores of the Singaporean coffee chain, Flash Coffee, marking a recent trend of shifts within the local food and beverage landscape.
