Vancouver’s milk tea scene is no stranger to international chains from Taiwan and China — but this time, a fresh face from Toronto is joining the mix. M Cha Bar, a standout bubble tea and gelato chain originally launched in 2018 at Vaughan Mills Plaza in Toronto, has officially been spotted setting up shop in Vancouver.
The new M Cha Bar location is taking over a retail unit on Renfrew Street, just across from the Broadway Tech Centre, joining a growing hub of eateries near the SkyTrain. This marks the brand’s first British Columbia location, expanding from its current four outlets in Ontario.
What sets M Cha Bar apart? The brand prides itself on honouring traditional tea culture while embracing modern techniques and flavours. Expect premium loose-leaf teas brewed fresh (sometimes even via espresso-style machines), house-made toppings like taro balls, brown sugar boba, and black sugar pudding, and a strong commitment to clean ingredients—no artificial flavors, just fresh fruit, local organic milk, and natural sweeteners.
But the experience doesn’t stop at milk tea. M Cha Bar also offers Hong Kong-style egg waffles, artisan gelato, and even coffee—creating a full dessert café vibe that goes beyond the average tea shop.
Vancouverites can soon get a taste of Toronto’s take on bubble tea, and early signs suggest it’ll be a hit among tea lovers and dessert seekers alike. The exact opening date hasn’t been announced, but with signage already in place, it looks like the wait won’t be long.
📍Address: 2557 Renfrew St, Vancouver BC
