Shiny Tea To Close After Nearly A Decade: Popular Milk Tea Spot Says Goodbye To Broadway

Shiny Tea, a beloved milk tea destination in the West 100s, is preparing to serve its final drinks this month. Located at 2667 Broadway between 101st and 102nd Streets, the shop has been a go-to for bubble tea lovers since opening its doors in 2016.

Dennis Chi, a team member at Shiny Tea, confirmed that the store’s lease is set to expire by the end of April. “We’re just letting the regulars know that we are closing, most likely by the end of this month,” Chi shared with ILTUWS. No exact closing date has been announced, and efforts to contact the store’s current owner have been unsuccessful.

Known for its signature milk teas, fruit-infused blends, and colorful toppings, Shiny Tea built a loyal customer base over the years. The shop underwent a change in ownership in 2019 but remained a steady fixture in the neighborhood’s food and drink scene.

Its closure adds to a growing list of small businesses that have shuttered along this stretch of Broadway in recent weeks, including Silver Moon Bakery, Abigail’s, and Shakespeare & Co. While no official reason was given for Shiny Tea’s shutdown, locals suspect rising rents and shifting post-pandemic consumer habits may be contributing factors.

As this neighborhood mainstay prepares to close its doors, regulars are savoring their favorite drinks and reminiscing about a place that’s been more than just a tea shop—it’s been part of the local fabric for nearly a decade.
