Chagee Vietnam is facing scrutiny after its District 1 store allegedly displayed an illegal map on its mobile app, sparking public backlash. Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City held a press conference on March 20 to address concerns about brands misusing national maps for promotional purposes.
Tran Binh Thien, Deputy Chief Inspector of the Department of Culture and Sports, confirmed that the department is collaborating with city police to investigate the case.
The controversy stems from the alleged use of the “nine-dash line” image, which violates Vietnam’s sovereignty laws. Officials emphasized that strict legal action would be taken if violations are confirmed.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging businesses and individuals to use official government-issued maps to avoid misrepresentation and legal repercussions.
