Richmond’s bubble tea scene is about to get even more exciting this spring with the arrival of Chahalo, a global milk tea brand known for its unique take on Eastern tea culture.
Chahalo, which has over 1,000 locations worldwide, will open its first BC location in March 2025 at the Empire Centre, filling the space previously occupied by Whale Tea, which closed in December 2024.
Founded in 2016, Chahalo has made a name for itself by turning tea drinking into a meditative experience, drawing inspiration from Chang’an, an ancient Chinese capital. Their drinks are made with real tea leaves and feature creative, poetry-inspired names such as Lotus Tea Latte, Emerald Tea Cappuccino, and Matcha Whispering Spring.
This marks Chahalo’s expansion into Canada, having already established three locations in Ontario. As Richmond continues to embrace modern tea spots, Chahalo is poised to offer a refreshing shift from the fruit-heavy options seen in recent years, focusing instead on tea-forward beverages with a touch of flair.
