In January, Richmond’s Union Square Shopping Centre welcomed two exciting new food spots: Chinese bubble tea brand HeyTea and the Asian-inspired bakery Flour Dance, both opening side-by-side at 8338 Capstan Way.
HeyTea, a renowned brand that focuses on natural sugar and dairy products, marks its second Canadian location in Richmond, following its first opening in Burnaby’s Crystal Mall in 2023. The bubble tea shop, known for offering fruit-infused teas and lattes, took over the former Blackball location. The brand’s signature drink features jasmine green tea with real grapes and a light cheese foam top. Founded in 2012 in Jiangmen City, China, under the name “Royal Tea,” HeyTea has since expanded globally with over 1,000 locations and plans to open more stores in Toronto.
Right next door, Flour Dance Bakery introduces an artisan bread experience with a variety of Asian-inspired flavors, including tiramisu cube bread, matcha Basque cake loaf, and red bean and pork floss loaf. Flour Dance’s unique offerings also include heart-shaped and baguette-shaped breads.
HeyTea operates daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., extending to 9:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, while Flour Dance serves its baked goods Wednesday through Saturday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
