The Flower Mulan Brings Tcm-Inspired Delights To Bedok

Bubbling with excitement, The Flower Mulan has recently opened its doors at Block 216 Bedok Food Centre and Market, offering a fresh take on bubble tea that’s as innovative as it is delicious. This unique beverage destination, created by former fine-dining chef Kenneth Teo, marries the beloved bubble tea experience with the rich traditions of Chinese medicine (TCM), making it a must-visit for tea enthusiasts and health-conscious consumers alike.

In a world where bubble tea shops fill shopping malls, The Flower Mulan stands out by setting up shop in a hawker centre—a place that embodies Singapore’s culinary heritage. Kenneth, who honed his skills in Michelin-starred restaurants, wanted to return to his roots and contribute to the hawker culture he cherishes. “I’ve always loved hawker centres,” he explains. “Many hawkers are getting older, and it’s vital to keep this vibrant scene alive for future generations.”

At The Flower Mulan, each drink is crafted daily using carefully selected, TCM-inspired ingredients. Customers can expect an array of healthy options featuring collagen-rich ingredients like peach gum and snow fungus, setting it apart from typical bubble tea offerings. Kenneth’s commitment to freshness means that all components are prepared in-house, ensuring the highest quality and flavor in every sip.

Why the name “The Flower Mulan”? Kenneth draws inspiration from the legendary figure Mulan, symbolizing strength and resilience—qualities he hopes to reflect in his brand. “Mulan volunteered to fight for her family and country, and I want my drinks to empower people through health,” he shares.

The hawker scene in Bedok has embraced The Flower Mulan, with fellow vendors showing tremendous support since its opening. “On the first day, many hawkers bought my drinks in bulk to share with others. It was a wonderful way to start this journey,” Kenneth recalls with a smile.

Each drink at The Flower Mulan is a labor of love. Ingredients such as snow fungus require meticulous preparation—soaked for an entire day and poached for hours. Kenneth believes in providing healthier alternatives for bubble tea lovers, especially for those who want to indulge their parents or grandparents with guilt-free options. “I’m not a bubble tea person myself, but my girlfriend loves it, and I wanted to create something that balances flavor with health,” he adds.

So, whether you’re a long-time fan of bubble tea or new to the scene, The Flower Mulan promises an experience that delights both the palate and the spirit. Stop by Block 216 Bedok Food Centre to taste the difference today!
