Starbucks Japan is delighting fans this Halloween season with a spooky yet playful addition to its menu. After introducing the striking “Mela Me-la Frappuccino,” designed to evoke the essence of a blazing flame, the coffee giant is back with an exciting twist: the “Pachi-Pachi Trick,” or “Crackling Trick,” launched on October 18.
This unique topping elevates the Frappuccino experience by adding a popping, crackling texture that enhances the fun of every sip. While the Pachi-Pachi Trick is recommended for the limited-time Halloween Frappuccino, it’s versatile enough to accompany any drink on the menu. Priced at just 108 yen (approximately $0.72) for takeout or 110 yen for dine-in, this quirky addition is a must-try for fans of all ages.
Our Starbucks enthusiast, K. Masami, couldn’t resist testing this new customization by pairing it with the exclusive My Fruit³ Frappuccino, available at only 15 locations across Japan. Masami was thrilled to discover that the Pachi-Pachi Trick comes in a surprise assortment of colors—red, blue, and orange—adding an element of excitement to her drink. She bought two sachets, and to her delight, one was blue and the other red.
As she sprinkled the toppings over her Frappuccino, the drink transformed into a vibrant spectacle, creating a festive party atmosphere. Each sip was a delightful explosion of berry flavors, with the popping candy bringing a joyful contrast to the creamy beverage. The combination not only tantalized her taste buds but also lifted her spirits, compelling her to experiment further.
Masami also tried the Pachi-Pachi Trick on the Waffle with Whipped Cream (290 yen). While the thick waffle absorbed some of the fun crackling sensation, the colorful popping candy still added a playful twist to the classic treat, reminding her of childhood candy shop adventures.
This whimsical topping promises to brighten even the dreariest autumn days, but hurry—its availability coincides with the Halloween Frappuccino, ending on October 31. Don’t miss the chance to indulge in this limited-time experience that turns every drink into a celebration.
