Kung Fu Tea Debuts Its First Location in Harrisburg Area

Lower Allen Township, Cumberland County, is now home to the newest addition of Kung Fu Tea, the rapidly expanding bubble tea chain that opened its doors at 3401 Hartzdale Drive this Wednesday, marking its debut in the Harrisburg area.

Known as “the Starbucks of bubble tea,” as dubbed by the Washington Post, Kung Fu Tea specializes in customizable, made-to-order bubble tea beverages, also referred to as boba milk tea or pearl milk tea. Originating in Taiwan in the 1980s, bubble tea combines tea with milk, fruits, and tapioca pearls.

The menu at Kung Fu Tea boasts a variety of options including classic teas, milk teas, fruit teas, and slushies, all of which can be enhanced with toppings like bubbles, milk cap, beans, and jellies. Each beverage is brewed using premium tea leaves every three hours and served in oversized cups with wide straws to accommodate the tapioca pearls.

Signature offerings at Kung Fu Tea include favorites such as Kung Fu Milk Tea, Taro Slush, Honey Oolong Tea, Strawberry Milk, and Cocoa Cream Wow Milk Cap.

Founded in 2010 in Queens, New York, Kung Fu Tea has rapidly expanded across the United States, now boasting over 350 locations nationwide, solidifying its position as the largest bubble tea brand in the country. Prior to its Harrisburg area debut, the closest Kung Fu Tea locations were in York and Lancaster counties.

Plans are already underway for a second Harrisburg-area location at 6416 Carlisle Pike in Silver Spring Township, as indicated on the chain’s official website.
